Just eat in moderation - if only it were that simple. People used to tell me, just learn to eat in moderation, but that never worked for me. I tried many different diets and it just didn't work. And for those of us who are addicted to our binge foods, you understand. Moderation just doesn't work. It's a slippery slope.
A single cookie or donut can trigger a downward spiral into overeating, guilt, and shame.
It's not a lack of willpower. It's the way our brains and bodies respond to these foods. Like an alcoholic must abstain from alcohol, we need to abstain from our binge foods to find freedom and peace. It's not easy, but it's totally worth it. Romans 12, verses 1 and 2 reminds us to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice and let God transform our minds.
By surrendering our struggles and working the 12 steps, we can experience true transformation. Are you ready to take the first step? Visit Reshape and Recover for support. We can help. I lost 90 pounds and have kept it off for over 16 years. You can do it too.
