Nehemiah 8:10 Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
After the Israelites had realized how far they had gone from God, they were weeping with sadness. Nehemiah said this to them to encourage them and us. The Levites (priests) also encouraged them not to grieve. When we stray from God and repent (change our direction), God is joyful! Because of God’s joy for us, we also can have joy. Therefore, repent (change your direction) but do not be sad. The joy of the Lord is our strength!
Dear God, Thank you for your glorious nature to give us your joy unspeakable welling up inside as you bless us deep inside from the inside out. Help us to share your joy with others as we trust you more fully each moment of the day and throughout our night as well. Amen
