Step Two and Prayer


Don't lose hope! The God of all power can help you with your overeating and weight troubles. He has helped me, and He can help you, too! Psalm 50:15 (NIV) says, "Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me." James 4:2b (NIV) also says, "You do not have because you do not ask God."


Therefore, I want to encourage you to start your day with prayer, asking God to be with you in all things, including helping you not to overeat. Pray before the temptation comes; it will be easier to pray in the face of temptation. With God's help, you can resist food temptations.


Staying away from the sugar and chemicals in today's food can help with physical cravings. Eat lots of protein and veggies, choose healthy carbs and fats, and drink plenty of water. And pray. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17 ESV).
