Resentments and fears have a way of holding us back—not just in our spiritual growth but also in our recovery journey. In Step Four, we courageously face these challenges by making a list of our resentments and fears, reflecting on how they’ve impacted us, and taking an honest look at our own part in them.
It’s not about blaming ourselves or others; it’s about recognizing patterns, understanding the root of our struggles, and inviting God into those places of hurt and fear.
Psalm 139:23-24 reminds us:
"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
This step is not easy, but it’s freeing. By bringing these struggles into the light, we allow God to heal our hearts and set us on the path to lasting recovery.
