Is it too extreme to think of sugary foods as poison? When you consider the many adverse effects of sugar on health, I think not! The list includes weight gain and obesity, joint stress (especially knees and hips), increased risk of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, increased risk of certain cancers, increased inflammation and impact on arthritis, insulin resistance, dental problems, addictive behaviors, mood swings, and mental health issues. When I am tempted to eat what used to be my favorite foods, I remember it is no better than eating poison and the urge goes away. Perhaps this will help you too when you are tempted.
