Overeaters Anonymous talks about how if you don't believe in God you can act as if you do so when you're praying you would be acting as if you believe in God and That actually does work. I've seen it work with people when they don't believe in God, and they pray and it actually does help them stay abstinent from their binge foods and work the program.
But as Christians, we have an advantage because we believe that there is a God who loves us, who created us, and who saved us, and who listens to our prayers. Yes, for sure. Yeah, I'd like to read this from James, chapter five, in the New Testament. Verses 13 through 16.
"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him or her, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And, if he has committed sins, he or she, they will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed. And the effective, fervent prayer of the righteous person avails much."
And so I just want to encourage people to pray. Pray for abstinence. Pray for help with the program and join a support group. You might want to consider joining Reshape and Recover.
You don't have to be a Christian, to join our group. We would welcome anyone with open arms who wants to learn to eat without overeating. And if you prefer, Overeaters Anonymous is a great choice. And so if you'd like to check out Reshape and Recover, please check us out at reshapeandrecover.com.
