Today's podcast focuses on the principle of committing fully to the recovery process. I've heard it said that half measures availed us nothing, and that is so true regarding the problem with compulsive overeating. When we were fully in our eating disorder, we worked very hard to make sure we could eat the foods we wanted when we wanted them. This might mean we hid food, snuck food, and possibly even stole food. When we are recovering from this addiction, we need to put in just as much effort. Making the food plans, spending time in prayer and meditation, and working on the 12 steps are all necessary parts of recovery. Skipping over these because we don't think we have the time is a recipe for disaster.
To combat compulsive overeating, it's not just about changing eating habits but also about engaging in spiritual and mental growth. Knowing modern processed foods contain so much sugar and chemicals can help you realize the importance of healthier choices for better overall health. While the journey to recovery is ongoing, daily practice of the 12 steps, coupled with spiritual trust and support, is essential for achieving lasting change and a fulfilling life.
